Internet Service Provider (ISP) Changes - July 2024

WHAT: Internet Service Provider (ISP) Changes
Lightwave has selected an ISP aggregator for our internet services. Over the next several months, we will be migrating our internet services to our new provider, BCN. The migration of internet services will be prioritized based on offices in need of an upgrade (higher speeds), current ISP issues, and offices that are out contract terms (contract expired) with their current ISP. Offices within contract terms will be migrated as those contracts expire.
WHEN: Q3-Q4 2024
We will communicate the timeline of this transition and coordinate directly with each impacted office.
WHY: BCN offers us access to wholesale pricing and a single point of contact for all internet needs, issues, and billing. Our goal with moving to BCN is to improve support, reduce network downtime, and establish standards to maximize connectivity. This will allow us to maximize practice uptime by:
- Establishing minimum internet speeds (500Mbps x 35Mbps) to support increasing bandwidth requirements
- Establishing backup connections to ensure connectivity during outages
- Backup options: 50Mbps dedicated fiber, broadband, or 4G/5G LTE wireless
IMPACT: Existing internet services will be cancelled and replaced with a new connection managed by BCN. There may be minimal internet service disruptions, but these will be scheduled outside of patient care hours. Technicians will be onsite to install new equipment and cut over to the new connection. Do not renew or sign any new contracts with Internet Service Providers (e.g., Comcast, Cox, Spectrum, Verizon, Segra, etc.). Please contact your IT Field Technician or submit a support ticket at help.lightwavedental.com with questions.
